This workshop is designed to increase the effectiveness of the counselors using the Penners’ Sexual Retraining/Sexual Therapy. Protocol for helping couples overcome barriers, interruptions, dysfunctions and conflicts in their sexual relationships by increasing the counselors’ understanding of and the rationale behind the process, tools and goals.

Who Should Attend
All professionals who counsel, including psychiatrists, psychologists, family physicians, social workers, psychiatric nurses, counselors, pastors and clergy, and students training in these professions
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Increase their effectiveness in working with and promoting helpful, biblically based male and female roles in the sexual relationship.
- Increase their understanding of the rationale behind the Penners’ Sexual Retraining exercises and the critical importance of utilizing the guidelines and principles to implement the exercises in order to accomplish the effectiveness of these tools.
- Gain additional knowledge and skill in knowing when and how the exercises might be modified as needed for unique situations.
- Have their specific questions addressed and the knowledge shared applied to their anonymously presented specific patient situations.
Cliff & Joyce Penner

Founder of The Center of Sexuality
Clifford Penner is a Canadian clinical psychologist and educator. He received his B.A. at Bethel College, his M.A. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. from Fuller's Graduate School of Psychology. Penner and his wife Joyce are sex therapists and educators at several colleges and school systems. They also produced a video series, The Magic and Mystery of Sex. Penner's book, Men and Sex: Discovering Greater Love and Intimacy with Your Wife won the Gold Medallion Marriage Book Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association.
